Dissertation Process and Responsibilities Student’s Name School Professor Course Name and Number Date Submitted Dissertation Process and Responsibilities Student After the candidate receives approval of his or her proposal, the candidate will be expected to provide the Provost with an electronic copy of the dissertation. The candidate can populate the Dissertation Signature Page Template and then submit it in the RES 9371 classroom. The student will then develop and coordinate the Dissertation Research Process Schedule with the Chair and the Committee Members and coordinate the Dissertation Oral Presentation. The student is also expected to remain active during the entire process while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor and to respect the committee members and the process. Chair The chair is expected to maintain constant and open communication with the candidate, the Dean, the Department Chair, and the Provost as required. Regular communication ensures that the doctoral candidate receives the appropriate feedback and data in time and that procedural changes are understood well. After the candidate receives approval of his or her proposal, the Chair of the committee will be required to complete the Oral Presentation Completion Form and to submit it to the Registrar. Once the student has populated and submitted the Dissertation Signature Page Template, the chair, and the committee members will sign it. A copy of the document will be submitted to Provost. The Chair will also review the ACD 006 IRB. The Chair should also ensure that the standards expected by the University, while policies and procedures are upheld. The Chair should also coach the candidate to remain focused at all times while helping the student to remain on schedule. For the entire Dissertation Proposal Review, the Chair should be available when needed and be active, acting as a role model to the student. Committee Members The committee members will work collaboratively with the chair to sign the populated Dissertation Signature Page Template from the student, a copy being submitted at Provost after it has been signed by the chair and the committee members. The committee members will also review the ACD 006 IRB while communicating regularly with the Department Chair, Provost, and the Dean to ensure procedural changes are understood fully by the doctoral candidate. The committee members also ensure that the student adhered to the University approved format and standards while upholding the policies and procedures of the University. The committee members can also make constructive recommendations Provost then reviews the dissertation submitted in RES 9371 to ensure consistency in the standards and format of the university. At this stage, additional information may be requested during the final dissertation review and changes done to the document to achieve the desired format and standards of this university. Once the dissertation has been reviewed and approved by Provost, it will be signed and dated on the Signature Page before it is forwarded to the Registrar. The Registrar keeps a copy of the dissertation in the student file and then mails the candidate the other copy in case the candidate requests a copy of the dissertation. The dissertation process is considered to be complete at this stage. The Registrar will upload the final grade into the candidate’s transcript and the student can fill the Intent to Graduate Form and submit it to the Registrar. References ACD 005 (2019).
