Topic: Role of Computer Information System in Decision Making
For this assignment, you must develop 4-5 research questions that relate to the purpose of
your study and align with the problem and purpose statements.
Your research questions should adhere to the following requirements:
• Must be stated in open-ended question format
• Must be one sentence in length, ending with a question mark
• Must be distinct and answerable
• Must align with the problem and purpose statements
Be sure to check for alignment between all of the research components.
Length: 1 page. APA.

Last Purpose Statement
Computer information systems are a must-have in every business today because of their great
benefits. Various research methods were used to determine the overall reliability and validity of
computer information systems in managerial decision-making. The main methods used were a
simulation, observational and experimental methods. The methods facilitated the identification
and analysis of the information gathered during the research, thus providing efficient reports
Through the simulation method, the company analyzed the behavior of computer information
systems and how effective it was in decision making. The experimental design method enabled
the company to evaluate the difference between computer information systems decisions and
those made without. Observational research was done by introducing computer information
systems to the natural setting of the company and observing the effect it has on managerial
decision-making. The observation method shows how people react to the change in the company
and how it affects their daily work.
The research aims to educate us on the effects of computer information systems in
managerial decision-making and their effectiveness. The information system is believed to
enable managers to make decisions based on the latest information because of its link from the
central database to the outside world consisting of the distributors, retailers, society, and supply
chain members. The information system should also enhance team collaboration when decision-
making involves groups.
The participants involved in the research included the managers, supervisors, and
consumers. The managers were introduced to computer information systems, and they used them
to make certain decisions in the company. The supervisors acted on the decisions made and
ensured that every instruction was followed to facilitate reliable results. The consumers were
then called upon to give their view on the effectiveness of the changes and how it has affected
the company’s productivity positively or negatively.
The research was done in the natural settings of the company to ensure that the only
change was the introduction of the information system. Changing location could negatively
affect the effectiveness of a research topic because participants might need to first adapt to the
new environment. The participants need to be in a place they are used to enable them to
concentrate specifically on the topic at hand.
Various limitations hinder the effective use of information systems in managerial
decision-making. One of the limitations is the skills gap, whereby the knowledge needed by an
employer to enhance business capabilities in an information system does not match the skills that
the employee has. For information systems to work well, an employee should have technology
talent in application development and security and data analysis skills. To close the gap in
information technology skills, companies need to do off-site training and outsourcing during
recruitment processes.
